Joyous news...

A breath of fresh air for a family riddled with nothing but ill news for a long time: I now have a nephew! This being the first birth in this generation on either side of the family, there has been even more phone-calling, hand-shaking, back-slapping and teary-eye-wiping than such an event would normally draw.

I've realized that my depression has crept into my tone in my blog as well, and it's only fair that my joy should show as well. Expect my writings to change from tragic-type stuff about myself to... er... for now, tragic-type stuff about the rest of the world *grin*. You see, my next post is going to be on Global Warming for the science blog, to which I haven't contributed in a really long time.

Cheers - and I mean it!
Prashanth.

I have read so many things about u (written by u) , IIT , topper, quiz competetions winner, good a thousand things, research , good command over language, the way you think about things(though process) - all very admirable things, but it never seemed to mean much.
but today I can say , I admire you, no, not for any of the above mentioned things, but plainly for the fact that you can smile and put a smile on someone else's face .
"Expect my writings to change from tragic-type stuff about myself to... er... for now, tragic-type stuff about the rest of the world *grin*. "
Wishing you a speedy recovery and a lot more smiles.

Prashanth- A blog is an outlet for your thoughts. And you have always been honest about your feelings. So I for one did not mind the "tragic type" stuff. To me it was you sorting through the muddle like all of us do.

But YIPPEEE! You are an uncle! Another young mind to currupt :P And will you get time to spend with the nephew?

And looking forward to the GW post.

Anon,
I apologize if I appeared a little vain. Let me try to put the smile on your face through future posts! One small request, can you leave your initials or a nickname, so that I don't have to keep calling you "Anonymous"?

Sakshi,
He's a little too young for me to corrupt yet ;) and no, I won't be seeing much of him yet as my s-i-l will stay in coimbatore for a few more months.

Intern,
There you are! I was thinking about you, but this computer is too ancient to even view your blog properly! I haven't seen "An Inconvenient Truth" yet, but I'm trying to get hold of it.
Disappearing bees?? Will definitely find out what I can!

Sushama,
Yes, Uncle indeed! I feel like I just aged five years in one day :P
Haven't seen him yet... ill health => no traveling :( but I will go next week...

Nah, only one who has something worthy to feel proud about has the right to it. And since when did u start apologising for being what u are!
[nope, not judging u or anything of that sort, I firmly believe that if u r worth something, there's absolutely no point being 'over-humble' about it]

Looking forward to lots of smiles .. and hope u r doing better.
